Start your day with a local coffee and breakfast sandwich at Wayne & Freda!

They are working hard to source the best suppliers and products to deliver the neighbourhood a specialty coffee experience in a welcoming space. With sustainable coffee and a curated menu that includes some of the best breakfast sandwiches you can get your hands on. Seasonally inspired toasts and bowls along with more of their delicious favourites.

The interior of Wayne & Freda was designed and built by Jen and Ryan Hawk to create an ambiance to foster community gathering and was inspired by their travels and love of hosting people.

Fun fact: They named the shop after their respected grandparents who became friends late in life. It’s a pretty sweet story; they’ll tell you over coffee! 

After breakfast, follow Front Street or Lakeshore Drive, or get onto the Okanagan lakefront walking path with a detour on the Kiwanis Walking Pier and spend some time touring the exhibits at the Penticton Art Gallery.

They exist to exhibit, interpret, preserve and promote the visual artistic heritage of the region and the province in relation to national and international art. They have changing exhibitions and also offer workshops, tours and other events.

Fun fact: The Penticton Art Gallery first started as the Penticton Art Club back in the 1950s!

For the rest of the itinerary, you can travel along the lake-to-lake bike route, so the next stop is to rent a bike or e-bike from Freedom! They are conveniently located right downtown on Main Street.

An electric bike is a great way to explore the city and gives you the opportunity to discover more. Other options for e-bike rentals include Epic Cycling, Penticton Bike Rentals, Pedego Penticton, Penticton E-Kruise and Hoodoo Adventures.

Fun fact: Their bike rentals also include comfort bikes for the KVR, road bikes, and singletrack worthy mountain bikes or e-MTB’s for sampling trails and views that Penticton and South Okanagan is famous for. They also have trailer cycles and trailers, so you can easily bring the whole family along for the ride!

Another great stop for the art lover is The Lloyd Gallery. They provide the Okanagan Valley with an exceptional selection of quality original art by Canadian artists. Situated on Penticton’s downtown colourful Front Street, they welcome you to view their salon-style gallery showcasing 40 Canadian artists, ranging in style from contemporary landscapes in oils and acrylics, or life-size wildlife to figurative bronze sculpture. Many of our artists enjoy an award-winning national and international reputation.

Fun fact: The Lloyd Gallery opened in the early 1980’s! Their philosophy has always been to make art accessible to everyone and are pleased to assist you with building your art collection in an enjoyable, no pressure environment.

Located right on the Lake to Lake bike route, TIME Family of Wines are easy to get to by bike or even on foot when exploring Penticton’s downtown core, and OROLO is a perfect lunch spot on this downtown culinary tour.

Taking the Okanagan winery experience to a whole new level.

Wine lovers & foodies alike are invited to visit the elegant Chronos tasting room to discover beautifully crafted wines from their Chronos, McWatters Collection, TIME Winery, & Evolve Cellars family of wine brands, then try the best locally curated casual dishes in the Okanagan from OROLO.

The winery also offers unique wine tasting experiences, like learning how to sabre a bottle of sparkling wine or sampling wine from the barrel.

Fun fact: They are built within a historic and revitalized movie theatre! You can even peer through the windows that divide the tasting and production areas to witness the winemaking process in action.

Another stop right along the Lake to Lake bike route, the Penticton Museum & Archives allows you to explore the unique world of the South Okanagan beyond its famous ‘beaches and peaches’ with tons of hands-on displays and activities for the whole family. 

They have both temporary and permanent exhibits, archives to access historic photographs, genealogical records, or even answer your questions about Penticton’s past, programs and tours and events throughout the year.

Fun fact: The Penticton Museum was established in 1954 when the city gave local collector R.N. Atkinson the use of the decommissioned sternwheeler S.S. Sicamous to house his private collection. In 1965 the museum moved to its current location at the Penticton Community Art complex, which it continues to share with the Penticton Public Library.

On Main Street in Downtown Penticton, step into one of Penticton’s newest restaurants, where passion meets flavour.

Based on the principle that some of our fondest memories are those created with family and friends, they aim to deliver an environment built around connection. They are focused on bringing the community together to share, celebrate and indulge.

Driven by his heritage, chef has created a menu with Asian flavours at its core. He draws inspiration from global cuisines, contemporary techniques, fresh ingredients and local producers to create a truly unique experience.

Fun fact: Kin & Folk was previously home to Joy Road Bakeshop.

Further down Main Street, is Tickleberry’s Ice Cream Shop, and what better way to end the day than with ice cream.

Scooping their famous cones with a focus on their made in house ice cream, with 72 flavours of ice cream! Their full-service coffee shop is also pouring Bright Jenny Coffee out of Kelowna and all of their snacks and treats are made on site, including baked goods like decadent cookies along with artisan coffee shop creations like lattes and cappuccinos.

Fun fact: Tickleberry’s Downtown is their first year-round location! Their original location opened in Okanagan Falls in 1990.
