Skaha Bluffs Provincial Park is one of the top climbing destinations in Canada. With the South Okanagan’s seasonally dry and warm weather between March and October, Penticton offers the longest climbing season anywhere in the country.
What makes Skaha Bluffs a world-class rock climbing destination is the easy access to over 1,200 established climbing routes. Just 10 minutes south of downtown Penticton are the gates to Skaka Bluffs Provincial Park with large parking lots that are just a short walk to the climbing routes. The park is open year-round but the parking lot access gate is closed seasonally from mid-November through to Mid-March. Skaha Bluffs has something for everyone, from novice to advanced climbers. Most visitors come to climb routes in the easier grades, but the area also provides a variety of moderate and advanced climbs for others to enjoy. The park offers incredible views of Skaha Lake and provides additional recreational opportunities such as hiking, biking, and wildlife viewing.
If you are looking to learn how to rock climb for the first time or advance your skills, we have great local guides and tour companies, such as Skaha Rock Adventures and Hoodoo Adventures that can show you the ropes! Skaha Rock Adventures, owned and operated by Russ Turner, has been providing rock climbing services since 1993. Russ has been instrumental in creating routes in the area and helping to create the climbing destination that Skaha Bluffs has become today.
In downtown Penticton, Hoodoo Adventures is also home to South Okanagan’s only indoor climbing gym. It’s open all year, so you can practice your skills no matter the season.
