After you’ve enjoyed breakfast at one of our local spots, head over to Skaha Lake Park for the day. Grab a spot under a tree to give yourself some shade and a break from the hot South Okanagan sun. If you are looking to play in the water, we suggest heading to the far west side of the beach were the water is shallower and you can walk out further.
Check out the Discovery Park at Skaha Lake that is in line with the “natural playground” movement, which incorporates elements you would find in nature into play equipment. This encourages children to move and use their imagination, fostering physical, cognitive and emotional development.
When its time for lunch, take a 5 minute drive along Skaha Lake Road and try Barley Mill Brew Pub, with a family-friendly upstairs. Sit inside or grab some take out to bring back to the park!
If you want to get out onto the water, Penticton Boat Rentals operates out of the Skaha Lake Marina as well, offering kayaks, stand up paddle boards, waverunners, as well as a selection of high-end surfboats, ski-boats and pontoons.
The Rotary Play World is a go-to favourite for local and visitors alike. Perfectly designed for children of all ages you will find 3 different playground structures, 2 swing sets and a seasonal splash pad. Surrounding by picnic tables and close access to washrooms, this area of the park is perfect for younger families.
After a day enjoying the beach, lake and parks, head over to Vallarta Grill, located near the splashpad and Skaha Beach and enjoy authentic, house-crafted eats & drinks on the patio while overlooking Skaha Lake.
No day in Penticton is complete with out a sweet treat! The famous Tickleberry’s in Okanagan Falls, also operates a concession stand at Skaha Lake park offering their generous ice cream cones, refreshments and snacks.
