Holiday Events & Markets

Christmas Craft & Sustainable Living Show 
November 3-4

The Interior’s first major shopping event of the holiday season returns for its 22nd year. More than 165 vendors from across the province offer artisan, eco-friendly and/or one-of-a-kind items, from clothing and pottery to locally made food products. Admission $4 at the door (free to children under 14). 

Penticton Farmers’ Winter Indoor Market 
November 10 & 24, December 8 & 22

If you are looking to pick up local produce or the perfect Christmas gift, there’s the Penticton Winter Farmers’ Market that takes place every second Saturday from November 10 to December 22 at the Shatford Centre. 

Rancho Vignola: Penticton Harvest Sale 
November 16-17

The two-day Penticton Harvest Sale is your chance to purchase unique Christmas gifts and stock your pantries and freezers. Also, choose from a large selection of ingredients for Christmas baking and organic and fair trade products. 

S.S. Sicamous Sweet and Classy Christmas 
November 17-18

All aboard the SS Sicamous for a sweet and classy Christmas Show! Featuring exclusively Make It, Bake It, Grow It or Vintage (collectibles), you are sure to find the most unique gifts among these makers of BC. We are always very excited to return each year to the wonderful sternwheeler, the SS Sicamous for a great Christmas market! 

Okanagan Falls Winery Association Holiday Cheer Open House
November 17-18

Join the wineries of Okanagan Falls on November 17 and 18 for their Holiday Cheer open house weekend in the “Heart of Wine Country”. Come visit 14 of their wineries for your holiday gifting ideas, food pairings & sample our delicious wines.

Tree Light Up Festival and Christmas Open House Downtown
November 22

Head to Downtown Penticton for the traditional tree light up in Nanaimo Square. Family activities and extended shopping hours at many downtown businesses will be featured. A special North Pole mailbox will be available for children to write to Santa and “Caroling for a Cause” a fundraiser coordinated by Grandmothers for Africa will be accepting donations throughout the evening (in support of Meals on Wheels). Parking in City owned and operated lots is free!

Christmas Artwalk – Penticton
November 22

During the Tree Light Up Festival, eight galleries will be open, all in downtown Penticton! Tour the galleries, all within a few minutes from each other. Meet the artists and enjoy the festive atmosphere. Mix and mingle, share stories and learn what inspires them. Admission is FREE. All ages welcome.

Santa’s Arrival at Cherry Lane Shopping Centre
November 24

Watch for Santa arriving by firetruck along the outside front of the Shopping Centre! Follow Santa inside and take part in the festivities. Free activities for kids including Part-T-Perfect Sand Art, Christmas Crafts and Sparkle tattoos from 11:00am to 1:00pm. Photos with Santa from 11:45am – 3:00pm for $25 (cash only) and include 3 photos on a USB flash drive.

8th Annual Light up the Vines
November 24, December 1 & 2

Bottleneck Drive members invite guests to celebrate the sparkle of the holiday season with the 8th annual ‘Light up the Vines’ event. Visitors will enjoy tastings, food pairings, holiday decorations, seasonal refreshments, festive food for purchase, outdoor fires and music, as well as special offers on some of the region’s best wines, ciders and beer; just in time for holiday entertaining and gift-giving. *Tasting fees may apply. Doors are open from 3:00-8:00pm. 

Summerland Festival of Lights
November 30

Returning for its 31st year, this wondrous tradition kicks off Summerland’s holiday season in spectacular style. Starting at 5pm with the Santa Procession, the evening continues with a brand-new Family Fun Zone, live entertainment, delicious food from local vendors, holiday shopping — and, of course, the unveiling of the lights at 7pm, followed at 8:30pm by fireworks. 

Penticton Santa Claus Parade 
December 1

The Christmas spirit fully blooms in Penticton at this holiday mainstay, now in its 21st great year. Stake a spot along the Main Street route, from White Avenue to Front Street, and join in the celebratory mood as dozens of floats herald the arrival of the season, starting at 4:00pm.

A Louisiana Hayride Christmas
December 11

Get in the Christmas spirit with the incredibly talented cast of the Louisiana Hayride Show. After 9 years of successful shows across Western Canada, the cast and crew of the Louisiana Hayride Show are bringing their very special Christmas production to you. The show is $45.00 per ticket and starts at 7:30pm at the Cleland Community Theatre. 

O Christmas Tea: A British Comedy 
December 19

A must-see performance on the international comedy circuit, the unstoppable duo, regarded as one of the most popular fringe duos ever (CBC), has been named Best of Fest (Orlando, Toronto, Winnipeg, Ottawa), Most Outstanding Show (London), Best Comedy (Victoria), Patrons Pick (London), and are currently performing a 5 week run Off Broadway. Tickets are $19 for children and $39 for adults.

Check out Cherry Lane Shopping Centre

Situated in the heart of Penticton, Cherry Lane Shopping Centre is the only enclosed Shopping Centre in the South Okanagan and Similkameen Valley. The mall offers 60 plus retail stores with the Hudson’s Bay, London Drugs and Save on Foods anchoring, with 3 new stores recently added. The mall is open seven days a week- you’ll find the perfect Christmas gift here.

Explore Downtown Penticton by Foot

Visiting Penticton isn’t complete without a trip downtown. The vibrant downtown core is full of eclectic stores and restaurants that are sure to delight anyone looking for a pleasant shopping or dining experience.

  • November 22 – Downtown businesses will be open late to help everyone get a start on their holiday shopping during their tree light upfestival and open house.

Give the Gift of Wine

Visit the BC VQA Wine Information Centre, the neighbourhood wine and gift shop for those seeking a good bottle of BC VQA wine over the holidays. The wine centre is open daily and will be hosting an Open House on November 17 from 12pm-5pm.

Shop at JAK’s  Beer Wine and Spirits located beside the Cherry Lane Mall, where you will find a diverse selection of wines, beers and spirits.

New to Penticton is the Great Estates Wine Experience Centre, a hub for the award-winning wares of the wineries in the Great Estates Okanagan portfolio. The Wine Experience Centre is located at the Penticton Lakeside Resort and is open daily over the fall and winter months. 

Looking to visit the wineries directly? A number of wineries remain open year-round and during the quieter winter months, you will have the opportunity to enjoy a more personal tasting.
