New Business Measures
All businesses in BC had to develop and post a COVID-19 safety plan in their establishment, following the guidance of WorkSafeBC. Businesses are required to access all of the potential risk areas, such as physical distancing and high contact areas, and then outline what measures they are implementing to reduce the risks for both guests and employees. Some of the measures include: the elimination of unnecessary touch-points, implementing barriers, reducing occupancy capacity, increased cleaning procedures, and putting up additional signage encouraging 2 meters (6 feet) distances are met. Additionally, groups of no more than 6 people can be together, this includes restaurant bookings, guided tours, wine tastings and in public spaces.
Many businesses will be implementing additional procedures, such as:
- Additional sanitization stations
- No contact services (tap to pay, online menus, etc)
- Employees wearing masks and gloves
- Requesting contact details, to assist with contact tracing efforts
