Stop in and rent an e-bike from Freedom Bike Shop. An e-bike is a great way to explore the KVR and gives you the freedom to stop and go as you please along the trail. Many picture ops and tasting rooms will be catching your attention along the way!
Other options for e-bike rentals include Pedego Penticton, Penticton E-Kruise, Hoodoo Adventures, Velo Volt Mobile E-Bike Rentals, and Penticton Bike Rentals.
After grabbing your bike, ride down White Ave East and cross Government St at the pedestrian walkway. Cross the bridge over the creek and you will see the entrance to the KVR.
Continue following the paved pathway and you will come to a second pedestrian walkway across Vancouver Ave and follow the road along Vancouver Place. At the end of the street, you will see the grated gravel entrance of the KVR Trail on your right. From here, you are on a multi use trail that is only accessible by walking, bike or horseback.
2.7km along the trail you will come to the McCulloch Trestle. Take a minute to soak in the views of the vineyards and orchards along the Naramata Bench and overlooking Okanagan Lake.
Perfectly situated long the KVR Trail, just past McCulloch Trestle, this is a perfect stop for a local craft beer or an apple slushie!
We suggest making the most of your e-bike an ride 13km more, slightly up hill (2-3% max grade) to the Little Tunnel lookout. This is a popular destination for most visitors along the KVR and offers incredible views from Peachland to the North to Ok Falls to the South. At the Little Tunnel, take a break and enjoy the snacks you bought from Petrasek Bakery.
Now its time to turn around and head back to Penticton (its all downhill!). Enjoy the views and the gentle ride as you make your way back to the city.
Feeling thirsty and hungry, with lots of option to stop along the way back to the city we recommend stopping at Hillside Winery & Bistro. They are conveniently located on the KVR and offer wine tastings at the winery and one of the best patios in the South Okanagan for a late lunch or early dinner.
Another great option for a wine tasting is this cycling focused winery, Chain Reaction Winery. Enjoy a tasting on their quaint patio featuring a spectacular view of Okanagan Lake.
After a full day of riding the bike on the trail, stop in at Cannery Brewing for a quick pint and nachos (a local favourite). Cannery Brewing is one of 8 craft breweries in Penticton, making Penticton the Craft Brewery Capital of Canada! Download the BC Ale Trail App to learn more about the Penticton Ale Trail.
