If you are familiar with the Penticton shoreline, you would know the incredible visual impact of seeing the many lights around the exterior of the SS Sicamous year round. At Christmas time, (even though we are closed for the season) staff replace the white lights with red and green, and put up lit Christmas Trees on the bow and stern. Over the years, many people have said to us, that it isn’t Christmas, until the holiday lights are on at the Sicamous! So, to honor and share in the beauty of the season, we have decided to turn this into a family orientated community event!

On Saturday December 14th, from 4 to 6 pm, we will be flipping the switch to turn on the holiday lights and share some Holiday Cheer onboard the Sicamous. Decorations have gone up, inside and out. The Victorian Carollers will be serenading attendees throughout the evening with traditional and modern day festive music. There will be several beautiful photo op’s on board, including ones with Santa (bring your own camera). Guests will also be invited to enjoy a hot chocolate or hot apple cider, watch our KVR Model Train travel through the Christmas themed Model Railway and view our exquisitely decorated historic ship!

Sharing this great asset with both locals and travelers from all over the world, is an amazing gift to offer to all who visit Penticton, but as you must surely realize, it is a continuous job to keep her ship shape.  Our sponsors have contributed several amazing gift baskets for silent auction. We invite you to come out, enjoy this one of a kind family event and help support our ongoing efforts to maintain and restore this iconic landmark!

*The SS Sicamous was launched in 1914. While she served the communities around Okanagan Lake for over 20 years, she has continued to serve this area for over 100 years in various incarnations. Present day as a Museum, Event Venue, Gift Shop and iconic landmark here in Penticton. She is cared for by the SS Sicamous Heritage Society consisting of group of dedicated volunteers and a few paid employees.
