Fred Skelton Theatre Company brings their world premiere of Lost Boys to Penticton at Many Hats Theatre.
Three bullies are trapped in a cave waiting for the boy they torment to go get help. Tackling themes like toxic masculinity, homophobia and mental health, the newest play from Brandon Shalansky is an explosive coming-of-age drama about teenage isolation. Starring Matt McLaughlin, Dominik Weaver, and Adam Weaver. Directed by Chantal Ethier.
Lost Boys is the third play Shalansky has written as part of a ongoing series called The Isolation Plays, and the second to be produced by Fred Skeleton following last summer’s production of Adrift. “You don’t see enough roles for teenage boys” says Shalansky, “where they get to play themselves and explore what it means to be a boy, to be that age in this day and age. You also don’t see TYA (theatre for young audiences) that shows the dark-side of being young, especially in Canada. – you see it a lot in film, but hardly ever on the stage. I really wanted to write something that gave young boys a chance to play these kind of roles on stage.”
Contains adult themes and coarse language
