Penticton & District Community Arts Council presents Arts Rising Festival
A celebration of arts and culture in our community
After a year off due to the COVID pandemic, the Penticton & District Community Arts Council (PDCAC) is back hosting the annual Arts Rising Festival this September 22nd to September 26th as a hybrid event – online and at the Leir House Cultural Centre.
The Arts Rising Festival celebrates artists of all kinds and a wide variety events for community members to participate with. The festival also features exhibitions by Michael deMeng, of Vancouver, and PDCAC Artist in Residence Karla Avendano of Kaleden, and a mini exhibition of Staying Home Project houses by a variety of local artists.
From administrator Bethany Handfield, “We are very excited for this year’s event and all of the terrific participating artists. There is something for everyone to enjoy.”
What will this year’s event bring? Musical performances, stand-up comedy, a colouring contest, dancing, storytelling, and so much more. A limited amount of art packs are available for Erin Shuttleworth’s colouring book and Sarah Lefebure Warriner’s Staying Home Project.
Participating Artists: Ann Doyon, Boundless Belly Dance, Daryl O’Neill, Erin Shuttleworth, Harmony Paper’s Alice Strohmaier, Karen Olson, Karla Avendano, Madeline Terbasket, Maiya Robbie, Michael deMeng, Sarah Lefebure Warriner, Tyne Driemel, Vault of Stars, Westley Walrath.
The Arts Council is very grateful for support from the City of Penticton, BC Arts Council, Province of BC, Aging Well Penticton, the First West Foundation, and local community donors who have provided funding for the festival this year.
