Pomegranates and Marbles by Izabela Bogdanovic
Izabela Bogdanovic (b.1976) is a visual artist, based in West Kelowna, BC. Exclusively an oil painter, she created a number of painting collections while recently mostly painting still life. Izabela exhibited her art at FCA’s 2020 Bloom Exhibition and 2020 Social Distancing Exhibition in Vancouver, Peachland Art Gallery, 2019 Autumn Gallery by FCA Central Okanagan Chapter, 2019 Lake Country Art Walk, Coast Collective Gallery in Victoria, BC.
“I painted this Pomegranates and Marbles (still life oil painting, on 14″ x 14″ birch panel) alla prima over a course of 3 days due to the slow drying qualities of my painting medium, walnut oil. I enjoy painting with slow mediums that allow me extra time and space to change my mind about some painting choices I made. Working wet into wet is the only way I can paint as the painting feels alive with its movable parts. Once anything dries it is fixed and done. I used solvent only in the initial drawing phase while at other times it was only pure walnut oil. This video is supported by Penticton & District Community Arts Council, Province of BC, Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen, Canada Helps, Gore Mutual, and generous community sponsors.”
