BCHL 60th Anniversary
The BCHL’s 60th Anniversary Event is the centrepiece of the league’s overall plans to celebrate its 60th season of existence.
The BCHL has been an integral part of this province’s culture since it began all the way back in 1961 and has grown into one of the most competitive and talent-laden junior hockey leagues in the world, producing high-end hockey players and even better young men who go on to pursue an education at some of the best schools in North America, while playing high-level collegiate hockey.
Come celebrate with us at our three-day event in Penticton, B.C. have a number of initiatives and activities planned that will give our fans, players, staff and sponsors the chance to take a look back and honour our rich hockey history.
All on-ice activities (with the exception of the Top Prospects Game) will be held at the brand-new outdoor ice surface located in downtown Penticton.

The Climate and Sport Initiative is bringing star athletes, sports enthusiasts, and sustainability experts together to take on the greatest opponent of our time. Play hockey, win prizes, and meet top players, while protecting your community for future generations. Let’s stick it to climate change!
As partners of the 60th anniversary weekend, The Climate & Sport Initiative and the Save Pond Hockey movement will be sending Olympic Gold Medalist Hayley Wickenheiser, along with a few of her former teammates, to participate in the weekend of activities here in Penticton. Their involvement will include participation in the community skate, the BC Hockey girls focused events, as well as our ‘Ride to the Rink’ event, utilizing the bike lane in Penticton.
